Dr. Shane Brown is an Associate Professor and Associate School Head for Undergraduate Programs in the School of Civil and Construction Engineering at Oregon State University. He has a B.S. and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Oregon State University, and an M.S. in environmental engineering from U.C. Davis. Dr. Brown’s active research interests include studies of engineering workplace learning, student misconceptions and conceptual change, student classroom engagement, and barriers and affordances for teacher change. Dr. Brown has 35 peer-reviewed journal articles and more than 50 peer-reviewed conference papers. He is a recipient of the NSF CAREER Award, and a multitude of teaching, service, advising, and research awards. Most notably he earned Fellow Status in the American Society for Civil Engineering, based on his impactful work on engineering education. He is a Senior Associate Editor for the Journal of Engineering Education and has chaired two NCHRP panels related to workplace learning.

Dr. Eric Jessup is an Assistant Research Professor with the School of Economic Sciences at Washington State University. He received his PhD in Agricultural Economics from Washington State University in 1998 and his Master of Agricultural Economics from the University of Kentucky in 1992. Dr. Jessup’s area of interest are in Transportation Economics, Freight Systems Modeling and Geo-spatial Analysis.

Dr. Kevin Chang is an Assistant Professor in transportation engineering at the University of Idaho (UI). Prior to joining the UI in 2013, he was a traffic engineer with the King County Department of Transportation in Seattle, Wash. where he managed the day-to-day operations of the King County Traffic Management Center and supervised the School Safety Program. Chang obtained his undergraduate and graduate degrees in civil engineering, with an emphasis in transportation engineering, from the University of Washington. His research areas focus on traffic safety and operations, transportation security and transportation education, outreach and workforce development. Chang has secured over $2 million in research funding for the university and has graduated four master’s degree students. Chang is a member of the Transportation Research Board’s (TRB) Safety Management Committee, chair of the TRB School Transportation Subcommittee and past chair of the Institute of Transportation Engineers’ (ITE) Transportation Education Committee. He has served as conference chair for the American Society of Civil Engineers’ (ASCE) Regional Student Conference, the University of Idaho’s Cyber Security Symposium and the PacTrans Regional Transportation Conference. Chang has extensive experience in workforce development and has led multiple national transportation engineering webinars for ASCE. A two-time University of Idaho Alumni Awards for Excellence recipient, Chang is the faculty advisor for the University of Idaho’s ASCE and Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) student chapters. He was awarded the Outstanding Educator Award by the ITE’s Western District in 2016. Outside of work, Chang serves on the board of directors for the Washington State Golf Association.

Mr. Connor is the Director of the Alaska University Transportation Center at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. He has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a Master of Science in Engineering and Science Management. Mr. Connor’s current research interests include transportation in cold regions, traffic and safety in rural areas, snow and ice control, project management and multi-use transportation corridors including automobile, all-terrain vehicles, bicycle and pedestrian, in small communities. He retired from the Alaska Department of Transportation where he was the Chief of Research. Mr. Connor serves as the Director of the Center for Safety Equity in Transportation, the Director of the Center for Environmental Sustainability in Cold Climates, and an Associate Director of PacTrans. He also serves on two TRB committees: APF60 Committee on Engineering Behavior of Unsaturated Geomaterials, and AFP50 Committee on Seasonal Climatic Effects on Transportation Infrastructure (Emeritus Member). Mr. Connor regularly teaches courses in project management, pavement design, and design of transportation founded on permafrost focused on the practicing engineer. He was elected as Engineer of the Year by the Alaska Society of Professional Engineers, Fairbanks Chapter. TRB awarded him the KB Woods Award in 1982. ASCE awarded him the Technical Committee Cold Regions Comity Award for International Collaboration
